Virgin Media launch first CR Report

27th June 2008

Virgin Media has launched its first Corporate Responsibility (CR) Report

The report explains how Virgin Media has started its journey towards becoming a more responsible business. It contains details on how it’s using its Virgin values and behaviours to understand its fundamental responsibilities to its key stakeholders and the need to embed CR across all of its business operations.

Focusing closely on the impact of its products and people, the company has identified a number of key issues around which it is developing its CR programme. These include:

- Developing and sustaining effective relationships with employees, customers and suppliers
- Being a responsible service provider
- Managing environmental impact
- Understanding how to support local communities

An account is given of progress already achieved in these areas as well as a candid assessment of what now needs to be done to improve performance. Details are also provided of how the company intends to test and validate its assumptions with its stakeholders, establish stronger governance of the CR agenda and develop greater rigour and quantification in its approach to performance measurement.

In acknowledging that it is at the start of its CR journey, Virgin Media is keen to glean feedback from all of its stakeholders on the detail contained in its report and the overall approach it’s taking to CR.
