Food safety is, I think, still top priority in the food supply chain and I think for the coming years it will remain top priority in the food supply chain. But what you see more and more is that sustainability issues like food security, like child labour, like environmental issues, they become more and more important.

The National Sustainable Food Summit is in Sydney on 4 April. I believe that the harmonisation of standards in the food supply chain is one of the most important topics within our industry. If we think back almost to 20 years ago, where the food sector started to expand the focus on food safety, we ended up with more than 100 standards for food safety management systems!

I arrived this weekend in Mexico City in preparation for the LRQA Food Forum Mexico to be held tomorrow October 18. Last week I attended the GFSI Focus Day and the LRQA Food Forum in Tokyo, Japan, and this week we have the LRQA Food Forum here.
