In the 10th and final episode of the 2011 LRQA Business Assurance Food Podcast Series, Fons Schmid, the Global Food Safety Initiative’s (GFSI) first Chairman of the Board and currently the Independent Chairman of the Board of Stakeholders of the Foundation for Food Safety Certification (FSSC) talked to our editor about the key issues facing the food sector. He took a look back at some of the historical issues and how those have been addressed by the sector, some of the issues that the sector is currently facing as well as looking ahead to the issues that will define the food sector over the coming years.

A new study by Accenture in Sustainability Magazine shows that 93% of global corporation CEO’s believe that sustainability will be critical to their future success, 78% say that sustainability is now viewed as a source of revenue growth and 72% said that stakeholder education is critical.
