The UK government’s support for biofuels risks failing to deliver significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and could be environmentally damaging, the Royal Society, the UK’s leading scientific academy, said yesterday, writes Ed Crooks . The society called on the UK and the EU to reform biofuels policy to give more support to fuels that delivered greater cuts in emissions.
Recently, Manchester City FC installed a wind turbine in their stadium grounds. When it is fully operational next year, it will supply enough energy to power the stadium and thousands of nearby homes.
