The international maritime transport community expects the annual volume of green-house gasses (GHG) emitted by commercial shipping to grow 55% to 1,345 metric tonnes (Mt) by 2020. BT Germany has just become the 5th BT country to be certified against the global environmental management system standard, ISO 14001, following a four-day external audit by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).
Jens Krause, BT Germany’s quality manager commented on the value of ISO 14001 certification, “As well as helping to retain business, we believe the improvements will save more than €900,000 each year, and cut our carbon footprint by 12 tonnes.”
