Public Consultation on Future Regulation in the automotive area

8th April 2008 by Simon Emeny

One mechanism of ensuring product conformity is to use regulation. A prolific generator of such regulation is the EU. There are frequent consultations on such regulation and I came across this one recently. Not directly related to a product or service per se, but as I explained in a podcast last year, EU Regulation can cover everything from passports to straight bananas!

The automotive unit of DG Enterprise and Industry has launched a Public Consultation on Future Regulation in the automotive area. The consultation concerns:

(1) Reduction of CO2 Emissions of Light-Duty Vehicles by More Efficient Mobile Air Conditioning Equipment and Gear Shift Indicators;

(2) Safety Regulation of Mobile Air Conditioning Equipment.

Interested parties are invited to send their replies to this consultation by 13 May 2008 to the following email address: entr-automotive-industry@ec.europa.eu and adding “MAC & GSI Regulation” into the subject line.
