Voluntary greenhouse-gas emission offset markets are in need of government oversight, says an article titled, ‘Policing the voluntary carbon market’.
Numerous opinion polls have indicated that concern over global climate change has risen dramatically in the US and elsewhere. One tangible measure of this growing concern has been the emergence of voluntary greenhouse-gas (GHG) offset markets, in which businesses and consumers purchase GHG reductions instead of directly reducing their own emissions.
