PAS 2050 Specification

17th November 2008

This Publicly Available Specification (PAS) has been prepared by BSI to specify requirements for assessing the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) of goods and services. The development of this PAS was co-sponsored by the Carbon Trust and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

What is PAS 2050?

PAS 2050 provides a consistent method for assessing the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions (carbon footprint) of goods and services.

PAS 2050 is a publicly available specification and was co-sponsored by the Carbon Trust and DEFRA, and developed with significant input from international stakeholders and experts drawn from academia, consultants, business, government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

PAS 2050 is supported by an implementation Guide and a Code of Good Practice (CoGP) for the communication of product GHG emissions and reduction claims.

Visit the Carbon Trust website to download supporting documents such as the PAS 2050 Specification, the Guide to PAS 2050 and the Code of Good Practice.
