New machinery directive in 2009

When the new Machinery Directive comes into force at the end of 2009 there will be a requirement that fixings for fixed guards must be retained when the guard is removed. Jon Severn discusses the available options for machine builders who need to plan ahead for this change.

Following the publication of the 2nd Guide to Application of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC by the European Commission in June 2010 (which runs to 400+ pages), MachineBuilding.net has updated its own guidance on the Machinery Directive, which is written in plain English.
