McNeil PPC, ALcontrol and LRQA Present ISO 14001 Case Study Webinar
8th September 2009 by Sarah Whitworth
McNeil PPC, a division of Johnson & Johnson and the leader in the consumer oral health and whitening market, ALcontrol Laboratories, one of Europe’s leading Food and Environmental testing organisations, and Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), one of the world’s leading assurance, certification and verification services providers, have joined up to offer a live ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Webinar on September 10, 2009.

The free Webinar features some leading environmental experts, with Dr Anne-Marie Warris, the chairperson for the ISO Technical Committee’s 207 Subcommittee responsible for environmental management system standards (including ISO 14001) and Tom Idle, Editor for Sustainable Business Magazine joining LRQA’s Steve Williams, Charlie Souders from McNeil PPC and ALcontrol’s David Doherty.
Mr. Idle will be chairing the event, with Dr Warris, Lloyd’s Register’s leading environmental and climate change expert, leading the discussion on the future of ISO 14001. For the first session (09:30 UK time) Mr Doherty, ALcontrol’s Health & Safety and Environmental Manager, will then offer an in-depth case study of the successful implementation of their LRQA certified ISO 14001.
For the second session (11 am EST) Mr. Souders, Environmental Manager for McNeil PPC, shares his ISO 14001 experience with the audience. This will be followed by a Question and Answer session with all four presenters being on the panel. Lastly, Mr. Williams, LRQA’s Business Assurance Manager and editor of www.businessassurance.com ‘s Management Systems section, will take a closer look at the specific aspects and clauses of ISO 14001 that are crucial to an organisation either starting on a new or improving on their current EMS.
Commenting on the implementation and certification process, Mr. Doherty said, “Working with LRQA to gain ISO 14001 certification tells our clients that we walk the talk, everything we ask people to do we can do ourselves. It tells our clients and our employees that we believe in what we are doing and that we have got the proof.”
Dr Warris, who is also the chairperson of the UK Emissions Trading Group (UK ETG), said, “For an EMS to effectively address stakeholder’s concerns, it must proactively address key environmental issues, such as climate change. And it must do so in a transparent manner that can be understood by stakeholders.”
The first webinar (featuring an ALcontrol case study) will begin at 09:30 UK time, with a scheduled running time of 90 minutes, completing at 11 am UK time. The second webinar (featuring a case study from McNeil PPC) will begin at 11am EST, scheduled to complete at 12:30 pm EST. Both sessions are targeted at individuals and organisations who are interested in environmental management systems, particularly ISO 14001. If your organisation is looking at ways save money on energy and waste costs, to improve your environmental credibility, meet environmental requirements, or just want to listen to how two organisations have used ISO 14001 to improve their environmental performance, these webinars are for you.
A recorded version will be made available after the event on www.lrqa.com and www.businessassurance.com/climatechange.
