“I believe the key benefit for an organisation with an energy management system is really focusing the minds and focusing the resources to look for improving energy performance. It goes quite a bit further than the traditional environmental management system ISO 14001. In ISO 14001, energy is just one of the many aspects, whereas under an energy management system the energy is focused on totally and right through from looking for current usage through to design, procurement activities, and really just structuring their approach to energy management on the whole.”
