Episode 4 of the Lloyd’s Register Copenhagen Podcast Series features a discussion between Dr Anne-Marie Warris, the Lloyd’s Register Group’s leading climate change expert and Sean Cuthbert, Lloyd’s Register Energy’s climate change expert. Anne-Marie and Sean take a closer look at the key issues that the different elements within the energy sector will be watching during the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP) negotiations in Copenhagen, December 7-18.
With a lot of topics to cover, including Carbon Capture and Storage and upstream and downstream supply chains, amongst others, this is the longest in the series, running over 30 minutes!
Sean commented on the importance of COP 15 in providing direction for organisations in the Energy sector,
“By bringing all the key countries together around the table, agreeing on a definite direction, a definite time line within the energy sector, they’re going to feel more comfortable with starting to make the significant investments in infrastructure that are needed to achieve the goals of 2050.”
In the next episode in the series, number 5, Madlen King, Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) Global Climate Change Manager, will talk about the relationship between the Copenhagen conference and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) as well as the inclusion of the Aviation Industry into the EU ETS.
