Firms in Australia and New Zealand see Detrimental Effects of Carbon Uncertainty

Firms in Australia and New Zealand appeared at a carbon-trading conference in Melbourne this week and made urgent appeals to regulators in both countries to come to agreement and clarify targets, timelines and rules for reducing GHG emissions reuters reports.
Both countries have provided proposals to tackle their emissions via carbon trading mechanisms, however both proposals have already been subject to lobbying and are by no means finalised.
New Zealand’s plans http://www.climatechange.govt.nz/emissions-trading-scheme/index.html are on hold awaiting a review and the proposed harmonisation with those of Australia and those of the Australian government were blocked in parliament’s upper house earlier this month.
