EU Twinning Agreement for waste management
21st January 2008
The technical and legal knowledge of how Malta manages some of its waste streams has been revolutionised thanks to a twinning project with Austria which ran for 21 months. The EU-funded twinning project, which was part of the 2005 National Transition Facility Programme for Malta, came to an end today following a closing workshop presenting the results.
Minister Pullicino said that over the past years, waste management has been gaining an ever higher priority in the development of our country. He augured this assistance will be strengthened during the implementation phase and assured that the country will continue to invest in having its own waste treatment and management facilities, to treat most of our waste streams in compliance with the related EU Directives and local legislation.
