Business giants look to a greener Taiwan
21st December 2007
Taiwan’s draft bill of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act, which was approved by the Executive Yuan in September 2006, has yet to pass the Legislative Yuan, and the country, like the developed economies of the West and Japan is still producing more than its fair share of carbon dioxide.
Taiwan’s 22.9 million people account for 0.35 percent of the world’s population, but according to the Environmental Protection Administration, the island’s homes, factories and vehicles are responsible for nearly 1 percent of global CO2 emissions.
