Business Assurance Thought and Link of the Day, March 20, 2009: Management Systems

20th March 2009 by Alex Briggs

Business Assurance as a concept is growing as the world recession deepens. Organisations are increasingly looking for ways to “assure” their business. In the management systems industry, it is widely recognised that certification is a “safe haven” during difficult economic times. Research undertaken during the early 1990′s recession indicated that organisations that were ISO 9001 certified outperformed organisations that were not. The research showed that smaller and medium sized enterprises (SME’s) offered the greatest upside for certified organisations.
To provide our audience with up to date, relevant information on Business Assurance, we will be phasing in a “Thought of the Day” and “Link of the Day” feature. It will always appear on our homepage and will also appear in the section of the site that is most relevant (today’s will be in the Business Continuity and Management Systems sections based on this thought and the Dan McClure link).
Today’s Business Assurance link of the day is to Doug McClure’s blog post on the definition of business assurance. Doug McClure is a Senior Managing Consultant for Business and IT Service Management within the IBM Tivoli Lab Services (ISST) organization. Doug has tagged 27 articles on his blog with Business Assurance. Thought that would be a good place to start.
